About PAY IT FORWARD DAY

Inspired by the movie Pay It Forward, Pay It Forward Day involves people doing random acts of kindness for others without expecting anything in return. Instead, recipients are instructed to ‘pay the kindness forward’ to others in need, essentially creating a positive ripple effect of giving.

The Haskell County Coalition, Living In Latimer Coalition and Pittsburg County Local Service Coalition have become Pay It Forward Champions and challenge their members and communities to help spread the word.  Community members are encouraged to participate on the day and perform some

wonderful random acts of kindness.

The Community

Your act of kindness can be as big or small as you would like to make it; from helping a stranger with their groceries to buying a meal for a homeless person or not charging a client for work. The aim is to simply put a smile on someone else's face and feel good about what you've done for someone else. After each good deed is performed people are encouraged to hand the recipient a Pay it Forward Day card. This card explains what the day is all about and has 24 boxes to be ticked off as the card travels forward to each recipient.

The Schools

Pay It Foward Day is an opportunity for children in schools to participate in a program which enhances their understanding of giving by doing a good deed for someone and expecting nothing in return. Instead the receiver is encouraged to Pay it Forward.  Parents are urged to get behind the cause and encourage this idea at home too.

Share Your Story

By sharing your Pay it Forward story you can inspire others to take action in making a difference.   The concept is that every time you "pay it forward" on April 30, 2015 you include a card asking the recipient of your kindness to continue the movement by paying it forward.  The card has boxes on the back to mark off every time a "pay it forward" deed is completed.  We have created a twitter, facebook and instagram pages and are asking anyone with a full pay it forward card to please post a selfie to show the completed card.  For example;  I go to McDonalds and give the cashier $10 and 10 cards, asking her to please give the next 10 customers a large drink on me and give them a card asking them to continue to "pay it forward".   Find us:
